Myancopharm COVID-19 vaccine launched in Yangon

The launch ceremony of the Myancopharm COVID-19 vaccine was held yesterday morning at Pharmaceutical Factory Branch (Ywathagyi) in Hlegu Township, Yangon Region.
The ceremony was attended by Secretary of the State Administration Council Lt-Gen Aung Lin Dwe, Union Minister for Industry Dr Charlie Than, Union Minister for Health Dr Thet Khaing Win, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, Commander of the Yangon Command Maj-Gen Nyunt Win Swe, Deputy Ministers for Industry U Ko Ko Lwin and U Yin Maung Nyunt, the Yangon region cabinet ministers, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Myanmar Mr Chan Hai, invitees and officials.
At the meeting, SAC Secretary Lt-Gen Aung Lin Dwe said efforts are being made to have 100 per cent COVID-19 vaccination coverage for those who need to be vaccinated by April and May. As more vaccines will be required for the booster dose, the Prime Minister instructed all to make efforts to domestically produce COVID-19 vaccines during his visit to the Pharmaceutical Factory Branch (Ywathagyi) on 8 October, he elaborated.
The COVID-19 vaccines produced from the Sinopharm China National Biotech Group is purchased as Ready to Fill Bulk and fill in bottles to produce Myancopharm COVID-19 vaccines. The production of the vaccine in the country will reduce the use of foreign currency, he added.
The Ministry of Industry will produce 10 million doses in the 2022-2023 financial year and is planning to use them in the public vaccination programme through the Ministry of Health. The SAC Secretary also expressed words of thanks to all stakeholders who have worked together for the production of the vaccine.
After the ceremony, the SAC Secretary, the Union ministers and officials observed the production process of the Myancopharm COVID-19 vaccine. — MNA
