Myanmar Ambassador U Thant Sin to the Republic of Korea gave a remark at the Global Saemaul Leadership Forum and Global Saemaul Undong Senior Officials’ Meeting 2024 at Doubletree by Hilton Seoul Pangyo in Seoul on 4 September.
Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) helped establish 110 model villages to implement new community or new village campaigns between 2014 and January 2020. As we witnessed the enhancement of the community cohesion and livelihood of villagers, Myanmar extended the project to 224 villages in 15 regions and states as part of Myanmar Saemaul Undong’s campaign under the State’s fund, the ambassador stated.
He also expressed his appreciation to KOICA and Saemaul Undong Centre for introducing new village projects and for their commitment to fostering community-driven growth and strengthening cooperation between Myanmar and the Republic of Korea.
The Ministry of Interior and Safety and Samaeul Undong Centre jointly organized the event. Under the support of KOICA, representatives from 29 countries implementing model village projects, ambassadors, KOICA officials, senior officials and professors attended the forum and meeting. — ASH/KK
