Myanmar attends 54th ASEAN tourism authority meeting and related meetings

The 54th ASEAN Tourism Authority Meeting and relevant meetings, the 39th ASEAN+ China, Japan, Korea Tourism Authority Meeting and the 26th ASEAN-India Tourism Authority Meeting were chaired by Indonesia on 7 and 8 July via videoconferencing.
The meetings discussed matters in connexion with the implementation of the ASEAN Tourism Strategic Plan (2016-2025) during and the post-COVID-19 period, the undertaking of the Tourism Marketing Strategy (2021-2025), tourism promotion activities of the ASEAN Centres — ASEAN-China Centre, ASEAN-Japan Centre and ASEAN-Korea Centre.
Representatives of the ASEAN Tourism Association (ASEANTA), ASEAN Tourism Research Association (ARTA), US-ASEAN Business Council (US-ABC), United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) and the Pacific-Asia Tourism Association discussed the resumption of international travel and tourism during the COVID-19 period.
The second-day meeting discussed matters pertaining to the progress of the tourism cooperation among the ASEAN+3 nations, the progress of its work plan (2021-2025), support of China, Japan and South Korea in the process of rehabilitating ASEAN tourism, the status of developing and implementing the ASEAN+ India Tourism Cooperation Work Plan (2021-2022) according to the ASEAN-India Tourism Cooperation Agreement, human resources development for tourism and hospitality between ASEAN and India, ASEAN+ India emergency communications, information exchange on tourism strategies and investment opportunities, and international tourist arrivals in member countries. —MNA
