Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing has told Australian Ambassador to Myanmar Ms Bronte Moules he believes they will be able to further improve ties between the two countries, sources said.
The Australian ambassador paid a courtesy call on the senior general at Bayint Naung Hall here Tuesday and held discussions with him that focused on security, peace, training, and developments in Myanmar.
The senior general thanked Australia for its support of Myanmar’s political reform, pledging better military cooperation between the two countries’ armed forces to safeguard regional security, especially in Asia. The two armed forces are reportedly deepening mutual cooperation on non-military issues.
Myanmar established diplomatic relations with Australia in 1953.
