Myanmar CMP (cutting, making, packing) supervisory committee holds meeting

The Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population held the Myanmar CMP coordination meeting (Cutting, Making, Packaging) Supervisory Committee yesterday afternoon in Nay Pyi Taw.
The State Administration Council reformed the Myanmar CMP Supervisory Committee with 15 members on 21 February 2021. The CMP Business Inspection Sub-Committee, CMP Wages and Revenue Sub-Committee, the CMP Export and Import Supervision Sub-Committee and the CMP Business Advisory Committee were formed to support the CMP Business Supervisory Committee.
The CMP Supervisory Committee is responsible for scrutinizing the company’s business application or businessperson, which intends to operate under the CPM system. It will check whether the CMP activities are being carried out under the existing laws, whether the notices issued are being complied with the current regulations, whether tax is paid or not, whether workers are paid in full and whether the statistics are kept in order or not.
At the coordination meeting, Union Minister for Labour, Immigration and Population U Myint Kyaing, in his capacity as the Chairman of the Myanmar CMP Supervisory Committee, called on discussion whether or not to continue the formation of the committee’s field inspection teams. He said CMP businesses were started by the garment industry and many other industries, including footwear, hat making, rubber production, transformer spare parts business, lens business, medical equipment.
He continued it can be seen that the CMP business has increased due to the increasing numbers of conversions from domestic investment to foreign investment and the easing of operations for the convenience of companies. He added that the CMP business industry is a crucial industry for economic development in developing countries.
He further said that the country would be able to create many good job opportunities and access to technology, gain international market share, and bring many benefits such as infrastructure and socio-economic development if the management of the business development is improved.
The Union Minister urged the meeting attendees to focus on the successful implementation of the CMP business, vital for its economic development.
The meeting also discussed the formation of the three subcommittees and the advisory committees, the field inspection team’s current activities, coordination with relevant departments, and improved CMP products’ quality and gained market share in foreign markets and current business challenges and needs.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister for Planning, Finance and Industry U Ko Ko Lwin, Deputy Minister for Labour, Immigration and Population U Win Shein and committee members, permanent secretaries, and directors-general respective ministries.—MNA
