Myanmar delegation holds several meetings after Russia-Myanmar Forum

Representatives of the Myanmar delegation held several meetings aimed at expanding economic cooperation with relevant Russian organizations during their stay in Moscow,
They visited the Eurasian Economic Commission, where they met the commissioner for Integration and Macroeconomics Sergey Glazyes. Both parties discussed the intensification of interaction between the two countries, the possibility of building up contacts in the field of trade and investment, and the need to exchange information between Russia and Myanmar through the establishment of academic ties between the countries.
They also discussed issues of trade and economic cooperation within the walls of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation. The director of the Department for Asia, Africa and Latin America Mr Sergey Nosov shared with the delegates the current foreign economic agenda and experience in the context of an aggressive sanctions policy, noting the building up of Russia’s potential in the field of international trade.
The meeting raised the issue of the significance of the recent appointment of a trade representative of the Russian Federation to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, and the despatch of a responsible representative of the Ministry of Commerce of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to the Russian Federation, who in turn took part in the reception.
Additionally, a meeting was organized for the forum participants with the Russia-ASEAN Business Council, which was also attended by a representative of the recently established Russia-Myanmar Business Council. The reception raised the issue of the need to develop contacts between representatives of small and medium-sized businesses in our countries, as well as the supply of Myanmar products to the Russian market.
The Myanmar delegation met employees of the Third Department of Asia of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia acquainted the forum participants with the activities of the Council of Young Diplomats and presented materials on ongoing projects. Both parties talked about the prospects of the development of bilateral relations in the field of public diplomacy, the possibility of creating a Council of Young Diplomats in Myanmar, as well as academic cooperation between Russia and Myanmar.
The Myanmar delegation also discussed the current foreign policy situation and opportunities for cooperation in the field of public diplomacy at the round table at the Gorchakov Fund.
They visited the Museum and Temple Complex of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, built in honour of the Resurrection of Christ and dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The delegates were shown the “guerrilla village” and the museum exposition dedicated to the special military operation, which is now taking place in Ukraine.
After the forum, a reception was organized for the delegation at the Myanmar Embassy in Moscow. Ambassador of Myanmar to Russia U Lwin Oo spoke on the occasion that the diversification of the areas of the Russian-Myanmar cooperation over the past two years and thanked the Russia-Myanmar Association for Friendship and Cooperation for its active support in the development of bilateral projects. — MNA
