A Myanmar Delegation led by U Ko Ko Hlaing, Union Minister for International Cooperation and Chairman of the Task Force to facilitate the provision of humanitarian assistance to Myanmar through the AHA Centre, departed for Phnom Penh via Bangkok on 5 May 2022 to attend the Consultative Meeting upon the invitation of Mr Prak Sokhoon, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
The Union Minister was accompanied by members of the Task Force; Dr Aye Tun, Deputy Minister for Health, U Aung Tun Khaing, Deputy Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, U Chan Aye, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and officials from relevant ministries and departments.
The Consultative Meeting will be held with an aim to convene a high-level platform to enhance the delivery of Phase-II humanitarian assistance to Myanmar and to achieve a common understanding and explore the possibility of providing more assistance to Myanmar within the framework of the ASEAN arrangement.
At OCHA’s request, Union Minister U Ko Ko Hlaing received a courtesy call by the delegation led by Ms Joyce Msuya, OCHA’s Assistant Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Deputy Emergency Relief Coordinator at the Sokha Hotel, Phnom Penh. The Meeting was also attended by Deputy Ministers and the relevant officials for the provision of humanitarian assistance to Myanmar.—MNA
