Myanmar earns over $233 mln from rice export in first half of mini-budget period

In the 2021-2022FY, Myanmar earned about $233.5 million. But the 2020-2021FY saw Myanmar having received $238.9 million from rice export.

Myanmar earned over US$233 million from rice export in the first three months of the mini-budget period of 2021-22, down over US$5 million compared to that of the same period of the previous FY, according to a press release of the Central Statistical Organization under the Ministry of Planning and Finance.
In the 2021-2022FY, Myanmar earned about $233.5 million. But the 2020-2021FY saw Myanmar having received $238.9 million from rice export.
In February 2022, Myanmar shipped about 100,000 tonnes through a maritime route. Among them, the country exported rice mostly to the Philippines with over 33,000 tonnes, according to the Ministry of Commerce.
In February, the country exported over 100,000 million tonnes of rice through maritime routes, earning nearly US$33 million. Myanmar exported over 41,800 tonnes of rice to Asian countries, about 35,300 tonnes to Africa and over 22,300 tonnes to EU member states.
From 1 to 28 February, Myanmar exported over 11,000 tonnes of rice to China and about 15 tonnes of rice to Bangladesh through the border route, earning $3.545 million.
In February 2022, the country exported over 191,600 tonnes of rice and low-grade rice to international markets through maritime and border routes, generating about $61.117 million.
The 2020-2021 FY saw the country export rice and broken rice with revenue amounting to over $700.13 million, according to the Ministry of Commerce. — Aye Cho/GNLM
