Myanmar earns over US$26M from rubber exports in June

According to the Ministry of Commerce, Myanmar fetched a total of $26.269 million from exporting more than 18,430 tonnes of rubber in June.
A total of over 15,790 tonnes of rubber were shipped from 1 to 21 June, fetching $22.433 million. Additionally, over 2,130 tonnes of rubber were exported via the Myanmar-Thai border and 507 tonnes via the Myanmar-China border trade routes, earning more than $3.836 million. Furthermore, rubber is primarily exported to China, Malaysia, Vietnam, India, Indonesia, and Bangladesh via sea routes.
There is regular turnover in sales among wholesale purchasers in Mon State, where rubber is predominantly grown in Myanmar.
The Myanmar Rubber Planters and Producers Association expects exports to reach around 300,000 tonnes of rubber in the 2024-25 financial year, compared to over 100,000 tonnes exported last year.
Rubber is grown in Mon State, Taninthayi Region, Kayin State, and other states and regions, with approximately 1,640,000 acres of rubber plantations. — TWA/TMT
