Myanmar encyclopedia to be republished for uplifting literature

A work coordination meeting to republish the Myanmar encyclopedia was held yesterday morning at the meeting hall of the Printing and Publishing Department on Theinbyu Road in Yangon.
At the meeting Union Minister for Information and Patron of the Myanmar Encyclopedia Republishing Steering Committee Dr Pe Myint delivered an opening speech.
Next, Tun Commercial Foundation Chairman and Patron of Myanmar Encyclopedia Republishing Steering Committee U Thein Tun and Vice Chairman 1 of Myanmar Encyclopedia Republishing Steering Committee Dr Khin Aye (Maung Khin Min – Danubyu) discussed and suggested works that are completed and future works to be done.
Myanmar Encyclopedia Republishing Steering Committee member Printing and Publishing Department (PPD) Director General U Aung Myo Myint then explained the status of the work processes.
Afterwards, Permanent Secretary U Myo Myint Maung, PPE Deputy Director General U Ko Ko Naing, writers Dr Khin Aye (Maung Khin Min – Danubyu), Dr Tin Hlaing (Bo Hlaing), U San Win (Archaeology),
U Than Ohn (Maung Zeya) and U Aye Lwin (Maung Thway
Thit) discussed and suggested by sector on the works completed.
Myanmar encyclopedias are being arranged to be republished with the aim of partly supporting Myanmar literature development, to support and uplift development and growth of reference literature together with Myanmar literature, to update the Myanmar encyclopedia with appropriate modern facts and figures.
Republishing of the Myanmar encyclopedias is a joint effort of Sarpay Beikman and Tun Commercial Foundation.
Myanmar Encyclopedia Republishing Steering Committee secretary U San Win (Archaeology) said, “Three groups, a steering committee, consultation group and editorial group were formed and the editorial group was editing the previous encyclopedia series 1 and half of series 2 while appropriate subjects from World Book 2016 were selected and translated.
In order to support the republishing work, 24 subject groups and 18 subject specialists were writing manuscripts. 15 encyclopedias were published from 1954 to 1976 and updating and amending outdated parts were being conducted.
Final manuscripts for series 1 will be completed by the end of December with the aim of printing a sample.”
Yesterday afternoon, the Union Minister met with literature experts for publishing the 100 Myanmar Books Series. At the meeting, U Than Ohn (Maung Zeya), Permanent Secretary U Myo Myint Maung, Director General U Aung Myo Myint and Deputy Director General U Ko Ko Naing explained current work processes of publishing the 100 Myanmar Books Series and literature experts in attendance discussed the long story sector out of the short story, long story, poem, play, essay sectors that will be included in the 100 Myanmar Books Series.
The meeting ended with remarks for republishing the books and analysis of the books.
