Myanmar Futsal teams to prepare for Viet Nam SEA Games

The Myanmar men’s and women’s Futsal teams will be preparing for the Viet Nam SEA Games, according to the Myanmar Football Federation.
The XXXI South East Asian Games to be held in Viet Nam was originally scheduled for later this year, but it was postponed to next year due to the COVID-19 epidemic.
The Myanmar Futsal team had previously planned to start training this mid-year if it was held earlier this year, but the training was postponed due to the tournament postponed.
The Myanmar Football Federation recently appointed Boonlert Charoenwong, Thailand’s coach as Myanmar Futsal technical director and the head coach of Myanmar women’s Futsal team to prepare for the upcoming SEA Games.
The Myanmar Football Federation (MFF) has been trying to appoint a foreigner coach as head coach of the Myanmar men’s national Futsal team since last year, but the plan has not yet been implemented.
The Myanmar Futsal team has not competed in international competitions since 2020 due to the pandemic.
Futsal was introduced to the SEA Games in 2007, and Myanmar teams competed in 2007, 2011, 2013 and 2017 versions of the SEA Games.
The Myanmar men’s and women’s teams competed in all four occasions, but only the Myanmar women’s team won a bronze medal in the 2011 Indonesia SEA Games.—Ko Nyi Lay/GNLM
