Myanmar, Laos Venerable Sayadaws wish to flourish Theravada Buddhism

Sayadaws from State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee of Myanmar and Buddhist Fellowship Organization of the Lao PDR hold talks in Yangon yesterday.

Secretary of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Agga Maha Pandita Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotikadhaja Thanlyin Minkyaung Monastery abbot Dr Bhaddanta Candima Bhivamsa and four SSMNC members held talks with Agga Maha Saddhamma Jotika Most Ven Bounma Simmaphom, President of the Buddhist Fellowship Organization of the Lao PDR, and party, who are currently in Yangon to attend the consecration of Maravijaya Buddha Image in Dekkhinathiri Township, at the Presiding Patron Hall on Kaba Aye Pagoda Road in Mayangon Township of Yangon yesterday afternoon.
In his welcoming speech, Thanlyin Minkyaung Sayadaw highlighted ongoing cooperation between Laos and Myanmar in Theravada Buddhism education and welcomed qualified monks and laypersons to learn Pariyatti literature at the International Theravada Buddhist Missionary University. The President of the Buddhist Fellowship Organization of Laos expressed thanks to the Myanmar government for allowing Lao members of the Sangha to learn Pariyatti literature at the ITBMU and for conferring religious titles on Lao members of the Sangha with the best wishes for long term existence of Theravada Buddhism culture between the two countries.
