Myanmar repatriates over 2,000 undocumented migrants, vows continued efforts

The Myanmar government is repatriating undocumented migrants who have crossed the border after conducting thorough investigations. This proactive measure aims to maintain law and order within the country.
Between 9 February and 5 March, the government repatriated a total of 2,201 individuals to their respective countries. Those included 1,969 Chinese nationals, 93 Thai nationals, 38 Vietnamese nationals, 33 Indian nationals, and 24 Indonesian nationals.
This latest repatriation effort brings the cumulative total to 52,820 undocumented migrants systematically repatriated since 5 October 2023. Chinese nationals constitute the majority at 50,772.
The government has reported that its efforts to locate and repatriate undocumented migrants will continue. — MNA/NT
