A Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) between the Roscongress Foundation of Russia and the Myanmar government to establish a foliar spray production factory in Myanmar was signed during the Myanmar delegation’s attendance at the Eastern Economic Forum in Russia, led by SAC Member Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Transport and Communications General Mya Tun Oo.
“Russia has advanced technology and utilizes natural materials rather than chemicals. Additionally, Russia is successful in agriculture and can transfer technology to us. There are also opportunities to enhance cooperation. If we receive investment and technology transfer for producing organic fertilizers from international sources, including Russia, it would greatly benefit Myanmar’s agricultural sector,” said President of the Myanmar Rice Federation U Ye Min Aung.
According to the MoC agreement, the first step involves the production of foliar spray by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development, and the Fund RC-Investment. The second step involves an agreement between the governments of Russia and Myanmar to construct a natural fertilizer plant in the Nay Pyi Taw council area. — TWA/TH
