Myanmar Senior General receives Japanese foreign minister

Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing received Japanese Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr Toshimitsu Motegi and party at Zeyathiri Beikman in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday afternoon.
At the meeting, they discussed maintaining the good relations between Myanmar and Japan, the changing political situations in Myanmar, practices of COVID-19 guidelines by the World Health Organization, the joint control measures of the Government and the Tatmadaw against the recent increasing case of pandemic in Rakhine State, food security amidst the impacts of this disease on the global economy, medical supplies from Japan and its assistance to small-scaled industries in Myanmar.
The meeting also focused on military operations of the Tatmadaw on the conflicts in Rakhine State in line with the existing laws while protecting the defending spirit of security forces in this area, and extending the period to suspend military actions from 1 to 30 September 2020, except in the control areas of terrorist groups announced by the government, in accordance with international norms for effective containment measures against the COVID-19 and lasting peace.
They exchanged views on the successful holding of 2020 General Election on 8 November, ensuring the free and fair elections and sending observing groups from Japan, according to the report from the Office of Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services.—MNA (Translated by Aung Khin)SG Photo 2 72 scaled
