Myanmar signs Code of Conduct towards Achieving a World Free Terrorism

A High-Level Special Event for signature of the “Code of Conduct towards Achieving a World Free Terrorism” was held on 28 September 2018 at ECOSOC Chamber of the United Nations Headquarters in New York, organized by Kazakhstan, during the 73rd General Assembly of the United Nations.
The Myanmar delegation handed over the document, signed by the Permanent Representative of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to the United Nations, Ambassador U Hau Do Suan, to H.E. Mr. Kairat Abdrakhmanov, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan at the event.
The special event was also attended by Under Secretary-General and Head of the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism H.E. Mr. Vladimir Voronkov, African Union Commissioner for Peace and Security H.E. Mr. Smail Chergui, Chair of the United Nations Security Council Counter Terrorism Committee and Permanent Representative of Peru to the United Nations H.E. Mr. Gustavo Meza-Cuadra, Chair of the Advisory Board of UNCCT and the Permanent Representative of Saudi Arabia to the United Nations H.E. Ambassador Abdallah Y. Al-Mouallimi and high-level delegates from other states that have signed the Code of Conduct.
The Code of Conduct will help to promote a global alliance of countries committed to prevent and fight against terrorism. Likewise, it also creates a venue for the countries to strengthen cooperation with the United Nations to implement recommendation embedded in the United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy (GCTS) and United Nations Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy Review. — MNA
