According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, three Myanmar students studying at Korean universities received scholarships for the 2024 second semester at the Woojung Education and Culture Foundation Scholarship Award ceremony on 20 August in Seoul, Republic of Korea.
The event, organized by the Woojung Education and Culture Foundation, took place at the Korea Chambers of Commerce and Industry. Myanmar Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, U Thant Sin, attended the ceremony and delivered a speech.
During the event, U Thant Sin expressed his gratitude to Chairman Lee Joong-keun and the Woojung Education and Culture Foundation for providing financial support to outstanding international students from various universities. The foundation selected a total of 99 students from 33 countries currently studying in Korea, including three from Myanmar, to receive scholarships.
The ambassador urged the students, along with their parents and family members, to remain committed, emphasising that the scholarships reflect the dedication and hard work of the students. He also expressed appreciation to the Woojung Foundation for increasing the number of scholarships from 83 to 99 in this second semester, following his request made during the first-semester Scholarship Award Ceremony in February of this year. — ASH/TMT
