Myanmar to play Australia today in AFF U-18 Women’s Championship

The final day of the 2022 ASEAN U-18 Women’s Championship Group B will continue today and the Myanmar team will play against Australia for the first place in the group.
Among the teams participating in Group B, Myanmar and Australia entered the semi-finals with six points after two games each.
The Myanmar team can win first place in the group only if they win against Australia.
Before the tournament, there were reports that the Australian team would send only the U-15 team, but currently, most of the U-17 players are coming to compete, as confirmed by the head coach himself at the pre-match press conference.
Therefore, it will be difficult for team Myanmar to play against Australia and they have reached the semi-finals, so they may face Thailand or Viet Nam in the next round, so some core players are likely to be sidelined.
The current head coach of the Myanmar U-18 women’s team, Daw Thet Thet Win, managed the Myanmar women’s national team, which participated in the ASEAN Women’s Championship last July, and at that time, they reached the semi-finals in the last group match against Viet Nam, so she had to leave all the veteran players behind and compete with young players.
In the final group match, the Myanmar team lost to Viet Nam by a goal, but in the third place match, they competed with all the core players and won the third prize by 4-3.
Therefore, in today’s game, head coach Daw Thet Thet Win’s strategy and pre-game preparations must be watched.
In the same time, the Philippines will take on Malaysia team at 3 pm Myanmar Standard Time.
The five-team Group A matches will end on 30 July, and the teams that will meet in the semi-finals will emerge only after the completion of all matches. — Ko Nyi Lay/GNLM
