Myanmar traditional bullock cart race attracts local people

A Myanmar traditional bullock cart race is being held in Khinmon Village, ChaungU Township in Sagaing Region.
The event which is celebrated in honour of Peasants’ Day attracted around 120 participants from Monywa, Sagaing, ChaungU, Salingyi, Nganzun, Myaung and Myinmu townships. Apart from the race, there is also a “beauty contest race” where the contenders race their bullocks down the track without carts.
“We organize the event annually to honor Peasants’ Day and this year marks the fourth time. We categorize the bullock cart race into four classes.
The first prize winner will take home a refrigerator while the second and third prize winners will get a 19 inch television and a cash award respectively,” said a local, who is a secretary of the committee for organizing the event.
The five day competition commenced on 4 March and continues till 8 March, according to an event organizer.—Myanmar Digital News
