DSC_7399Nay Pyi Taw, 4 Dec— A memorandum of understanding has been signed between three ministries and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) at Thiri Mingala Hotel here on Thursday, officials have said.
The Ministry of Information, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education entered an agreement with the UN agency to broadcast children’s rights education programmes designed to promote public awareness of childcare, health and education.
Reports said that the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement joined the four entities to create televised programmes, which are expected to be aired next year.
The telecasts will provide the public with information of birth registrations, vaccination of measles and rubella, and children’s rights to education.
After the signing ceremony, Deputy Minister U Pike Htway and Mr Suleman Malik of the UNICEF presented gifts to officials from radio stations as a token of their cooperation. They also looked round publications of children’s rights.
