Myanmar women’s squad to join Asian Cup Qualifiers in Lebanon

Group D matches for the 2022 Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers in which Myanmar national women’s team will play in September in Lebanon.
Myanmar is falling in the Group D with host Lebanon, UAE and Guam. Only the top teams from the group will advance to the next stage.
The group matches are scheduled to take place from 13 to 25 September, with the Myanmar team playing the host Lebanon team in the opening match.
After the qualifiers, the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2022 will be hosted in India in early 2022.
Hosts India, top three teams in the 2018 tournament, defending champions Japan, Australia, China and eight winning teams from the qualifiers will battle for the next stage.
The Myanmar women’s team is building with veteran players plus newcomers from U-16 and U-19 teams. U Tin Myint Aung, Myanmar women’s team head coach, has been training players from 30 preliminary squads since early July.
The Myanmar women’s team is set to compete in the 2022 Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) and international competitions, including the Asian Cup, said Myanmar Football Federation officials.—GNLM
