Myanmar’s export earnings reach $4.5 billion in current FY

Myanmar earned a total of US$4.524 billion from overall exports of domestic products during the first three-and-a-half-month period this fiscal year, according to a report released by the Ministry of Commerce.
The figure represented a $974 million increase from the same period last fiscal year.
Between 1 April and 13 July this year, public sector exports exceeded $1 billion, while private sector exports stood at nearly $3.5 billion.
The country usually exports six major groups of products to other countries, including manufactured goods, forest-based products, minerals, as well as agricultural, aquaculture, and animal products, and other miscellaneous items.
Data from the ministry showed Myanmar exported $808 million worth of agricultural products, $86.927 million animal products, $173 million marine products, $440 million minerals, $2.495 billion manufactured goods, and other products worth $466 million.
During the same period, the export value of both agricultural and forest products continued to decline. Compared to the same period last year, the export value of agricultural products decreased by over $140 million, while forest products declined to $53.75 million from $68.017 million.—Swe Nyein
