Myanmar’s exports surge to $11 bln in eight and half months

Myanmar’s exports amounted to over US$11 billion in the past eight and half months of the current financial year 2022-2023, according to the statistics released by the Ministry of Commerce.
Between 1 April and 16 December, the value of exports by the private sector was estimated at $8.887 billion, while export earnings by the public sector reached $2.868 billion, totalling $11.755 billion.
The values of export were registered at $2.56 billion for Agri-products, $18.409 million for livestock, $520.153 million for fishery products, $215.623 million for minerals, $106.851 million for forest products, over $7.999 billion for manufactured goods, and $333.351 million for other goods.
Myanmar’s export by sea bagged $7.694 billion while exports through cross-border trade posts generated earnings of $4.105 billion. Of the seven export groups, the manufacturing sector performed the best. — TWA/EMM
