Myanmar’s first political literature reading set to be held 29-31 July in Yangon

INFORMATION Union Minister Dr Pe Myint met officials in Yangon yesterday to review progress in the effort to organise the country’s first reading session of political literature in conjunction with a literary festival.
The reading session will attract 18 prominent political researchers and analysts who will give talks on a variety of topics. The papers to be read at the event will focus on the 1947 Constitution and the rights of separation, democracy and human rights, the political literature of the past, normative political ideology in speeches, liberal democracy and Myanmar’s transition, ethnic armed movements portrayed in political literature, internal peace process of the past era, politics and journalism, nationalist movements, and contemporary political ideologies. The event will be held from 29 to 31 July at the compound of the Printing and Publishing Department on Theinbyu road in Yangon in conjunction with a monsoon book fair, which will attract some 170 book shops.
Admission to the event is free.
