Ready-to-eat nga-poke-chauk (grilled dried fish), a local product from Myeik has been sold well, with many orders placed from Yangon Region.

Nga-poke-chauk is expensive among dried fishes and it is made with rotten fish by salting. “It is already grilled and ready to eat by adding oil. It is boneless and tastes like grilled dried beef. Many consumers in Yangon enjoy nga-poke-chauk and it takes about a week to transport to Yangon. There are different varieties of nga-poke-chauk such as nga kywal yin or kakuyan nga-poke-chauk and pinlaepyay or saltwater nga pyay ma nga-poke-chauk. – Thit Taw/ZS
