Nearly 100 commercial photographers give service at Taungthaman Bridge

There are nearly 100 commercial photographers at Taungthaman Bridge in Amarapura township to give service to the visitors by taking commemorative photos on their trips, according to a photographer. Five photographic studios are operated there. There are some 40 photographers give service to the visitors on the west wing of the bridge, about 15 photographers at the centre of the bridge and some 20 photographers at the east wing as the number of photographers are on the rise starting from early 2022 more than before Covid-19 epidemic period, it is learnt. “Before Covid-19 period, the visitors took pictures with the use of their mobile phones. So, the number of photographer declined because of difficulties to earn incomes. When the Covid-19 subsided in 2022, the number of visitors increased and took photos on beautiful pictures of visitors with cameras. Some youths work at the bridge under advice of senior photographers,” he said. During the public holidays, number of visitors is about four times more than regular days. Photographers charge K1,500 per 4x6 inches photo, and if the photo does not need to be printed out, and if it is taken in mobile phone or memory stick, the charge will cost K1,000 per work.— Maung Aye Chan/MKKS
