New Dawbon bridge commissioned into service

To strengthen the friendship between Myanmar and Japan and to enable smooth transportation, a new Dawbon bridge, constructed with a new technology by Japan, linking Mingala Taungnyunt and Dawbon townships, was commissioned into service in Yangon yesterday morning.
At the event, Union Minister for Construction U Han Zaw and Yangon Region Chief Minister U Phyo Min Thein delivered speeches and Japanese Ambassador to Myanmar Mr. Ichiro Maruyama and JICA Myanmar Office Chief Representative Mr. Masayuki Karasawa explained about the bridge and construction steps. A person representing the local people expressed words of thanks and pledged to help maintain the bridge.
The bridge was then formally opened by Yangon Region Hluttaw Speaker U Tin Maung Tun, Deputy Minister for Construction U Kyaw Lin, Deputy Speaker of Yangon Region Hluttaw U Lin Naing Myint and other officials, Chief Representative from JICA Myanmar Office, Mr. Masayuki Karasawa and Project Manager Mr. Masayuki Karasawa from Nippon Koei Co. Ltd. who cut the ceremonial ribbon followed by Union Minister U Han Zaw, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Phyo Min Thein and Japanese Ambassador to Myanmar Mr. Ichiro Maruyama pressing a button to unveil the stone pillar commemorating the opening of the bridge and sprinkled scented water on it.
The ceremony came to a close after officials crossed over the bridge and inspected it.—Myanmar News Agency
