The Department of Bridges under the Ministry of Construction and Myanmar Port Authority issued a notice that the new strand road will be temporarily closed while the steel girders are being installed at the Myanmar-Korea Friendship (Dala) Bridge Project.
The section between the place where the Pansodan road and the new strand road meet and the top of Sabai Road in Ahlon Township will be closed to traffic on 18, 19, 23, 25, 26 and 27 March for the sake of safety during the installation of steel beams on the Ramp A and B bridges, the MPA notified.
Further notices were issued for container trucks which will enter the jetties on project execution days, to use the strand road for access.
The Myanmar-Korea Friendship (Dala) Bridge Project started in May 2019 with the help of the Korea Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF). The bridge is now 53 per cent completed and it was reported in mid-February 2023 that it will be fully completed in early 2024. Among the steel cable suspension bridges in Myanmar, the Myanmar-Korea Friendship (Dala) River Bridge is the largest and longest and is under construction with advanced technology. — TWA/CT
