Nine Yangon hospitals to detect COVID-19 with antigen test kits


With the rising of the COVID-19 pandemic transmitted patients rate in Yangon Region, nine Yangon hospitals will start detecting COVID-19 with the use of antigen test kits, which can give a result within 20 to 30 minutes beginning from Yesterday. “Testing of COVID-19 with the use of antigen test kits is aimed to find COVID-19 positive patients effectively and rapidly. Using the antigen test kits to test COVID-19 will start in nine Yangon hospitals, said Dr Tun Myint, the Head of Public Health Department in Yangon Region.
These nine Yangon hospitals are Yangon General Hospital, New Yangon General Hospital, North Okkalapa Hospital, Thingangyun Hospital, Insein Hospital, Yangon West Hospital, Yangon East Hospital, Hlinethaya Hospital and Thanlyin Hospital.
The health staff and suspected patients and patients undergoing the emergency operation from these hospitals will do COVID-19 tests using the antigen test kits. These tests will yield the results within 20 or 30 minutes.
Myanmar imported the kits from South Korea to test COVID-19 in a short period. The country will receive a total of 200,000 kits. By experimenting with antigen test kits, Yangon region seems to have a greater number of COVID-19 positive patients than previously. —Myint Maung (Translated by Hay Mar)
