Norwegian King Harald V and Queen visit Mandalay

Norwegian King Harald V and Queen Sonja on Friday arrived at Mandalay Gawwein jetty here to visit significant places including Buddha image on Mandalay Hill.
They were welcomed by Union Minister for Rail Transportation U Than Htay, Mandalay Region Chief Minister U Ye Myint, region ministers and students.
During the visit, the Norwegian King and his wife donated cash to the fund of the pagoda on Mandalay hill and looked round world record stone inscriptions and oldest living star-flower trees.
They then visited Mandalay Royal Palace (Myanan Sankyaw Golden Palace) and cultural museum where Deputy Minister for Culture Daw Sanda Khin made a clarification on the objects in the museum.
The Norwegian King Harald V and Queen left Mandalay for Thailand this evening and they were seen off at Mandalay International Airport by officials. –Mandalay Sub-Printing House
