NPE celebrates 24th anniversary

The News and Periodicals Enterprise (NPE) under the Ministry of Information held its 24th anniversary in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
Speaking at the event, Union Minister U Maung Maung Ohn said the NPE, which was reconstituted on 1 April 1998 from the News and Periodicals Corporation organized in 1972, reaches 24 years in existence this year. All should review challenges, progress and achievements faced in the past and also consider the ways for the future.
As media is the most important for the country and NPE also plays a key role it should keep carrying out active and innovative services for the interests of the country and people.
He also appreciated the efforts of NPE officials, editors-in-chief, the editorial department, reporters and other relevant personnel.
Then, the video record of NPE activities was played.
The Union minister presented cash awards to the Myanma Alinn, the Kyemon and the Myanmar News Agency.
Deputy Minister U Ye Tint also gave cash prizes to the Myanmar Digital News and the head office news department and other officials offered prizes to relevant departments.
Then, two retired editors-in-chief expressed thanks and the event was concluded. — MNA
