The Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army, Navy, Air Force) held the second monsoon tree planting ceremony near Yezin Dam in Zeyathiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning.
At the ceremony, Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife planted a teak sapling. Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win and wife, Union Ministers and wives, senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief and wives, officers, other ranks and families from the offices and departments of the office of C-in-C planted saplings of teak, padauk (gum-kino), mahogany, and mangiumcia (acacia mangium).
Next, the Commander-in-Chief and party viewed and encouraged officers, troops and families planting the trees.
In today’s event a total of 4500 saplings including 330 teak saplings, 1,215 padauk saplings, 1,823 mahogany saplings and 1,132 mangiumcia saplings were planted in the vicinity of the Yezin Dam. Starting from 2011 to 2019, the Office of the C-in-C (Army) has already planted a total of 146,283 saplings of precious teak, perennial trees, and shade and windbreak trees to conserve the environment and ecosystem of the Yezin Dam and its surrounding areas.
Similarly, the military commands across the country also held second monsoon tree planting ceremonies. They planted a total of 394,101 saplings during this second tree planting, according to the news release of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services. – MNA (Translated by TTN)
