Over 10,000 tourists visit Pathein-Shwethaungyan beach in August

A total of 10,967 travellers visited Shwethaungyan Beach and Kyaukmaungnama Elephant Camp in Pathein Township, Ayeyawady Region, in August 2024, according to Daw Cherry Myint, an executive member of the Myanmar Tourism Association (Shwethaungyan Beach).
Shwethaungyan Beach is a popular destination for both foreign and domestic tourists, with over 20 hotels and guesthouses available for visitors.
“In August 2024, 10,967 domestic travellers visited Shwethaungyan Beach, compared to 17,011 domestic and international travellers in July. Visitor numbers tend to drop during the rainy season, although Shwethaungyan Beach remains a year-round destination, especially for day-trippers. Another attraction is the Kyaukmaunghnama Elephant Camp,” said Daw Cherry Myint.
The hotels regularly clean their front areas, beautify their compounds with landscaping, and maintain the hotel corridors, beach coastline, and public spaces. They also provide food for guests.
Additionally, safety is a priority at the beach, with services for bicycle, motorboat, and horse rentals. Local food and souvenir shops are also available for tourists. — ASH/TMT
