Over 13 mln Myanmar people fully vaccinated against COVID-19 until 30 Oct

Myanmar has vaccinated over 13 million people for COVID-19 until 30 October 2021, according to the Ministry of Health.
As of 30 October, a total of 7.05 million people have been double jabbed and 6.19 million people have received the first shots of COVID-19 vaccines, according to the Ministry.
The country has already provided the vaccines to 13 million people, accounting for 35 per cent of the country’s population, since the country started its vaccination programme.
The country announced a goal to vaccinate 50 per cent of the country’s population by the end of this year, and 70 per cent of the population by the mid-2022.
Of the 24 million Sinopharm vaccines purchased from China a total of 20 million vaccines have already arrived in Myanmar and the remaining four million will arrive in November. Authorities are also making efforts to buy more vaccines, according to the Ministry of Health.
The health staff are giving the COVID-19 vaccines to people aged 55 and above. Now, the vaccine has been given to the adult population, including any person over the age of 45 since 17 October. Since January 2021, the country has been administering vaccinations, using the China-made Sinopharm and Sinovac vaccines, across the country.
The number of COVID-19 cases and deaths globally slightly decreased by 10 per cent each in last week, according to the WHO’s weekly report on COVID-19 released on 28 September. — Aye Maung/GNLM
