The Myanmar Embassy in Tokyo, Japan, made an announcement on 15 June stating that more than 350 Japanese companies have committed to employing over 1,100 workers from Myanmar.
The embassy has verified 352 job demand letters received between 1 June and 15 June 2023. These letters have been forwarded to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for processing.
As per the announcement, Japanese companies will be hiring a total of over 1,100 Myanmar nationals, with approximately 400 males and over 700 females being offered employment opportunities.
While it is well-known that a significant number of Myanmar workers seek employment in Thailand, an increasing number are also reportedly finding work in other Asian countries such as South Korea, Japan, and the United Arab Emirates. —TWA/CT
