Over 66,000 students receive first dose of COVID-19 in Mon State

Mon State on Sunday began offering COVID-19 vaccine to students between the ages of 12 and 18 who are learning at basic education schools, monastic schools and private schools in selected places.
There are around 140 designated places from 10 townships of Mon State to administer the vaccine. But in some areas, the selected places have been merged for security reasons.
Finally, the vaccination programme is being carried out in 116 places in ten townships in Mon State.
The health teams are divided into two or four groups. Those teams will go around those designated places and administering the vaccine. The vaccination programme for students was launched beginning on 17 October in Mon State.
The schoolchildren aged between 12 and 18 years will be jabbed with China’s Sinovac vaccine, the State’s Public Health Department stated.
A total of 66,273 students will be vaccinated in Mon State: 4,894 students in Kyaikto, 5,989 students in Bilin, 6,420 students in Thaton, 7,006 students in Paung, 8,860 students in Mawlamyine, 5,190 students in Chaungzon, 7,065 students in Kyaikmaraw, 7,157 students in Mudon, 6,569 students in Thanbyuzayat and 7,205 students in Ye townships. — Aye Maung/GNLM
