Myanmar Timber Enterprise will put up over 68 tonnes of sawn teak for auction through an open tender system to the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) on 25 November.
A total of 68.0379 tonnes of teak produced by No 1, 2, 4, 8 and 10 sawmills under the Local Marketing and Milling Department of the Myanmar Timber Enterprise will be sold to MSMEs including small domestic manufacturing businesses at the No 4 Sawmill (Wahtaya) on 25 November with the open bidding. Those enthusiastic MSME entrepreneurs have to submit an auction form to No 4 Sawmill (Wahtaya) in Shwepyitha Township, Yangon Region by 24 November, the Myanmar Timber Enterprise said.
The MSME entrepreneurs must hold at least one licence among three business licences: a milling licence from the Forest Department under the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, a business licence from the Directorate of Industrial Supervision and Inspection of the Ministry of Industry and a business licence from the SME Development Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation to join the auction.
Myanmar bagged US$88.383 million from the exportation of forest products between 1 April and 4 November in the current financial year 2022-2023.
Myanmar conveys teak, hardwood, plywood and other forest products such as bamboo, cane, catechu, jute, Thanaka, cardamom, beeswax, shellac, wood veneer, wood oil, pine essential oil, bat guano, orchid, Rauvolfia, edible bird’s nest, Nipa palm, bamboo thatch and Myoporum sandwicense (false sandalwood) to the external markets.— TWA/GNLM
