Over K557M in illegal goods seized in two-day crackdown

Supervised by the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, action is being taken under the law against illicit trading across the nation.
During inspections on 26 September, the combined on-duty teams nabbed a Mitsubishi Fuso truck (estimated value of K30 million), travelling from Thamanya to Yangon, carrying a kind of industrial materials valued at K15.5 million that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) at the Ywathagyi Dry Port, two types of foodstuffs and a kind of consumer goods valued at K10.15 million without official documents that were piled up at the 3rd-Milepost express station compound in Kawthoung township and two tractor heads with two trailers (approximately K157 million) carrying illegal 297 barrels of fuel and 75 barrels of diesel worth K268,442,558 at the Kywetatson checkpoint. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
On 27 September, the combined teams managed by the Bago Region Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force seized Toyota Dyna (estimated value of K30 million), travelling from Theinzayet to Bago, carrying a kind of foodstuff worth K12.375 million without official documents near Phayagyi junction, a Toyota HiAce (estimated value of K30 million), heading to Yangon from Hpa-an, carrying a kind of consumer goods worth K3 million at the Nyaungkhashay x-ray station, illegal timbers weighing 1.317 tonnes worth K316,128 in Nyaunglebin district. The action was taken under Customs procedures and the Forest Law.
Additionally, the combined teams captured two unregistered motorbikes (estimated valued at K800,000 in Magway and Thayet districts and illegal timbers weighing 2.854 tonnes in Minbu district. The action was taken under Customs procedures, the Forest Law and the Export and Import Law.
The Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee reported that 15 arrests were made from 26 to 27 September, with an estimated value of K557 million. — MNA/MKKS
