Oversea Works Management Committee holds coord meeting 1/2019 in Nay Pyi Taw

Oversea Works Management Committee of Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population held coordination meeting 1/2019 at the meeting hall of the ministry yesterday morning.
The meeting was attended by Committee Chairman Union Minister for Labour, Immigration and Population U Thein Swe, Union Minister for Border Affairs Lt-Gen Ye Aung, committee members who were Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Transport and Communications Deputy Ministers, permanent secretaries and officials from Union Auditor-General Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Central Bank of Myanmar, Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, Myanmar Police Force, General Administration Department and the ministry.
At the meeting Union Minister U Thein Swe said Certificate of Identity (CI) was issued to a total of 1,666,115 undocumented Myanmar workers in Thailand and their bio matrix data, iris scan and finger prints were scanned, recorded and stored at National Data Center in Nay Pyi Taw. It can be shared with other departments if requested, said the Union Minister.
The Union Minister also explained about a coordination meeting between Myanmar-Thai government by experts on workers held at Phuket, Thailand from 13 to 14 May, arrangements made to send Myanmar fishery sector workers to Thailand, Japan and Republic of Korea and memorandum of cooperation (MOC) signed with Japan on 28 March 2019 to send expert workers to Japan and other oversea workers related matters. Next Oversea Works Management Committee secretary Department of Labour Director General U Win Shein explained about works conducted by the committee from November 2018 to April 2019 and fund usage status. Committee members then discussed relevant ministries’ works on migrant workers. — MNA
