The 2022 Viet Nam U-19 invitational tournament, also named the U-19 Thanh Nien Cup, which will be organized by the Viet Nam Football Federation, has seen some changes in the participating teams.
Although there were some changes in the teams participating in the tournament, a total of four teams will compete. The host Viet Nam team and Myanmar team will compete as usual, but Malaysia and Thailand will compete as new teams.
In the past, the top teams in Asia, such as Japan and Saudi Arabia, registered to participate, but withdrew, so it was replaced by the Malaysian and Thai teams.
All four of these teams competed in the recently concluded 2022 ASEAN U-19 Championship, with Malaysia winning the championship and Thailand and Viet Nam reaching the semi-finals.
The International U-19 Thanh Nien Cup will be held at Binh Duong Stadium from 5 to 11 August. The Myanmar team has been taking training since the end of the ASEAN U-19 tournament to compete in the next tournaments, including this, with 28 preliminary players. The team is managed by U Soe Myat Min as the head coach, and the team that participated in the 2022 ASEAN U-19 competition is basically formed. — Ko Nyi Lay/GNLM
