Passenger details required for highway bus tickets

The Ministry of Transport and Communications has issued an instruction to highway bus terminals to record the exact personal data of passengers before selling the tickets.
The bus lines must take the record of passengers’ names, CSC numbers, addresses and contact phone numbers, place the passengers as per the seating plan after checking the data again and check the CSC cards and passengers.
“We cannot buy the tickets as we want. It needs a recommendation letter and a copy of the CSC card. We cannot buy for others. Although we can purchase tickets online previously, we have to give our personal information at the bus stations now,” said Ko Khin Tun from Lanmadaw Township.
A total of 564 express buses of 211 highway bus lines were operating from Yangon to other regions/states in early August and transported 8,400 passengers. According to data on 23 August, 525 express buses of 206 highway bus lines transported 7,053 passengers. Figures showed a decline of over 1,300 passengers compared to the numbers of early August.
“We, gate officials fill the name of passenger and CSC no in the seating plan sheet and show it to officials along the trip. Now, we have to sell tickets after recording the personal data,” said an in charge of the bus station. — TWA/GNLM
