Myanmar oral and dental specialists of the Medical Services Department of the Ministry of Health and Japanese specialist Dr Naoko Kishi of Japan Heart conducted joint operations for free surgery for nine patients with cleft lips and palates and lecture sessions for dentists from 22 to 24 August in Nay Pyi Taw.
The General Hospitals of the Ministry of Health provided free surgeries for patients with cleft lips and cleft palates in 2023. The free surgeries were offered to 22 patients at Nay Pyi Taw General Hospital (1,000-bed), 72 patients at Nay Pyi Taw Dental Specialist Hospital, 63 patients with cleft lips and 38 patients with cleft palates at Yangon General Hospital between February and August, nine patients with cleft lips and four patients with cleft palate at Mandalay General Hospital between January and August, and 82 patients with cleft lips and palate at Mawlamyine General Hospital between January and August.
Moreover, the surgeons will continue free surgical care at Shwebo Township Hospital and Myeik General Hospital soon. Therefore, patients with cleft lips and palates across the nation can get free treatment at the outpatient departments of these general hospitals in addition to Yangon, Nay Pyi Taw and Mandalay General Hospitals. — MNA/KTZH
