Pay attention to floods and landslides in monsoon

Monsoon brings raindrops to Myanmar in June. Naturally, the raindrop makes soil be wet and swampy.
Myanmar people welcome the monsoon but they are worried about flooding and landslides in the monsoon. It is because the water based on torrential rains may cause flooding and landslides in various parts of the country.
Even developed countries cannot evade from the landslides and flooding triggered by unfavourable weather. So, it is not unusual that Myanmar, the least developed country, faces natural disasters including floods and landslides in the monsoon.
However, everybody has chance to take preventive measures depending on collection of information about the forecasts on climatic conditions. There were many examples to overcome challenges of the climate due to taking an adequate time for preventing the natural disasters.
Hence, all the citizens should make concerted efforts for making preparedness against the disasters by taking lessons from the past events such as severe floodings in Sagaing Region and Kachin State in 2015. The flooded water inundated these areas, cutting communications between flood victims of Sagaing Region and Kachin State and those from other regions and states. However, local people did not surrender to the bad climatic conditions.

Even though the people from Sagaing Region and Kachin State faced bitter difficulties in severe flooding and landslides, they strongly overcame these difficulties with concerted efforts. When the flooding ebbed from these areas, local people polished their residences.
Now, the regions and states where tide may reach have built cyclone shelters in which local victims can take safe accommodation and foods. Landslides blocked the roads and communications routes with soil and rocks in the hilly parts.
In fact, natural disasters at the most powerful stage can destroy the houses and property of locals. But, waning disasters cannot give troubles to the people. So, we should adopt the comprehensive plans to overcome the challenges of natural disasters in the monsoon.
We need unity among the people to be applied in taking care of the people and their families. Otherwise, we all would be victims of disasters. That is why all the citizens must collectively take preventive measures against flooding and landslides while repairing the damaged roads triggered by the monsoon.
