A press conference on the 1,500-mile Peace Bike Tour 2019 was held on the morning of 25 March at the Myanmar Press Freedom Center on Boaungkyaw Street, Yangon.
The peace bike tour is being organized by young bike enthusiasts in Myanmar to promote peace among citizens.
“Our tour will help participants observe and gain knowledge of ethnic regions and local residents, at a time when the word ‘peace’ has come more popular among the youth,” said Ko Thet Swe Win, one of the organizers. The tour will start from the Yangon-Mandalay highway road on 27 March and pass Toungoo, Loikaw, Mongshu, and Lashio towns to end in Pyin-Oo-Lwin. After the tour, participants will visit Mandalay and then head to Yangon.
The tour will feature 35 riders on 20 motorcycles, and one emergency vehicle. The tour shows Myanmar’s support of the peace process, said organizers.
