
The breach danger mark of Ayeyawady river in Katha township, Saging Region is 1,040 cm. As it surpassed its breach danger mark and rose to 1,044cm yesterday evening, people from the local blocks and villages in low lying areas were evacuated.
The Department of Disaster Management reported that evacuation was carried out as follows: 9 households from Ye Lae Kyun on July 12th, 3 households from block No (4/5) on July 13th, 9 households from Ngwe Ni, 7 households form Lat Pan Zin, 5 households from Way Swal, 49 households from block No (8) on and 22 households form Ye Lae Kyun village on July 14th. There were total of 104 households and 553 people evacuated .
The flood affected people were relocated to relief camp at Maha Lay Htat Monastery in 3rd block, Katha Township. This evacuation was the team effort of Township General Administrative Department, Township Fire Service Department, Myanmar Police Force, Department of Disaster Management, Information and Public Relations Department and philanthropist teams.—Han Myo Kyaw (Katha)
