People throng Myitkyina’s Children’s Literature Festival

Myitkyina Township’s Children Literature Festival and book sales continued its second day at the Convocation Hall of Myitkyina University yesterday. The festival was bustling with visitors and participants until 5 pm.
Festival attendees enjoyed performances of students from basic education schools in Myitkyina Township, singing performance of Kachin Artists Association, puppet dance, and Kyaukse town’s traditional elephant dance.
Competitions such as paper folding, coloring, painting, toy assembly and teamwork games were included in the festival.
Writer Shwe Myar Hla Win Swe discussed under the title, “Cute Child Poem” and writer Htila Than Naing discussed under the title, “East, West, Where?” in the literature talk. Maung Ye Kyaw (Yupa), Maung Thomas Tu Tu, Ma Nan Ei Phyo Htet, Ma Khaing Mar Lwin and Ma Htay Htay Lwin participated under the title, “Modern vision, Modern thoughts, Youth Right” in the literature roundtable.
Similarly, May Kha Aung, Aung Tun Lin, Saw Nadi (Myitkyina), Myit Nge Kyaw Maw discussed under the title, “Youth and Personality” at the workshop of upgrading children’s literature and the festival attendees listened with interest.
Mobile Library gallery by Myitkyina Community Center and Daw Khin Kyi Foundation, geography gallery, botany gallery, biology gallery, chemistry and biochemical gallery, Environmental Conservation/Forestry gallery by Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation, Myanmar Gems trade business gallery, gallery of Department of Food and Drug Administration by Ministry of Health and Sports, consumer affairs education gallery by Ministry of Commerce, dangers of drugs education gallery by Myanmar Police Force under Ministry of Home Affairs, anti-human trafficking education gallery, education gallery by Traffic Police, gallery of I.E.L.T English language and youth development training school, 3 galleries from private high schools, education gallery by Nyaung Pin Tha Children Library, 5 galleries from basic education schools, education gallery of ILBC, education gallery by Computer University (Myitkyina), gallery by Technological University (Myitkyina), gallery by GREEN HILLS ACADEMY were on display at the festival.
Similarly, 11 literature and traditional culture galleries of the Lawwaw, Yawan, Larchid, Jinphaw, Lisu, Zaiwah, Tailay, Tailai, Taisar, Thakhamti, and other ethnic races were on display.
There were 50 bookshops by publishing and distribution businesses and they mostly sold children’s books.
The Children’s Literature Festival (Myitkyina) attracted over 50,000 people on the first day and the number of visitors exceeded 60,000 on its second day.
The festival was held with the aim of sharpening intelligence and ideas of children who will become future leaders of the country, improving their creative ideas and communication skills, promoting close association with literature, instilling reading habits and to create happiness for the children.
Kachin State’s ministries of Planning and Finance, Municipal Affairs (Road Department), Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, the Myitkyina District General Administration Department, and Nestle offered charity food to the festival participants.
