Pigeon pea prices on the rise, black gram declines

The pigeon pea prices declined in the Yangon market and rose again on 19 November, according to the market.
In the Yangon bean market, the pigeon pea price reached below K1.9 million per tonne starting on 11 November. However, it reached over K1.9 million on the seventh day of the opening of the wholesale centre.
In November, black gram FAQ/RC was priced over K1.8 million per tonne only on 8 November and below K1.8 million until 19 November.
On 19 November, the black gram FAQ/RC was K1,765,000 per tonne while K2,085,000 per tonne of SQ/RC and K1.9 million per tonne of pigeon pea. The FOB bean prices were between $750-770 per tonne of FAQ black gram, $890-910 per tonne of SQ and $790-810 per tonne of pigeon pea FAQ.
The new pigeon pea starts entering the market. The pigeon pea prices were K2,175,000 on 19 September and the black gram reached its highest at K2.1 million on 31 August. The highest prices dropped by K275,000 per tonne of pigeon pea within two months and by over K300,000 per tonne of black gram within over two months and a half. — TWA/GNLM
