Police taking action against perpetrators in Taungdwingyi

About 50 youths (still under investigation) threw stones at the home of Ko Jenna, goat butchery businessman on Magway-Taungdwingyi road, in Taungdwingyi, Magway Region yesterday late evening. After singing the national anthem, the mob went to the place in Shwekyain Ward 1 where a mosque is located. Police members acting on information guarded the mosques at 8:05 pm.
At about 9 pm, about 70 people holding catapults and stones were at north of the mosque. In addition, about 400 onlookers arrived at the place southeast of the mosque. Security personnel using loudspeakers asked them to disperse again and again. As they did not disperse the security forces broke them up with shields. They left the place at 9:30 pm.
Police arrested a 30-year-old stone-thrower of the town. Investigation is under way to expose the other suspects.
At 9:40 pm, Tatmadawmen joined forces with police in conducting security. Police also made reinforcements. Police will take action against those who made agitation to cause disturbances, people are urged to live in peace within the legal framework.—Myanmar News Agency
