The onion price is decreasing despite the low supply, and only 78,000 visses of onions entered the market on 8 September, at K3,250 per viss for large-sized onions.
On 8 September, 28,000 visses of onions entered the Pakokku market, and the highest price for a viss of onions was only K2,850. According to market price reports, the highest price of a viss in local markets was above K3,000 in the previous days.

Therefore, at the start of the second week of September this year, the prices of onions and potatoes were still remarkably low compared to the same period last year. Thus, the price of onions and potatoes has not yet risen for consumers, Ko Aung Moe, a seller of onions and potatoes from the Lanmadaw Nyaungpinlay Market, told the Global New Light of Myanmar (GNLM). — TWA/CT
