Nay Pyi Taw, 2 March—The Pesticide Registration Board has accepted the registration of 383 products following laboratory analysis, moving them a step closer to approval for commercial use.
Pesticides with experimental registration must undergo further tests on their potential and agricultural friendliness before manufacturers can apply for provisional registration.
For export and import of pesticides that have earned provisional registration and amendment registration, endorsement will need to be sought from the Directorate of Trade. In addition, they will need to have registration numbers and the endorsement of local authorities printed in the Myanmar language on their packages, the board stated. Otherwise, their sales are prohibited.
Action will be taken against pesticide producers who engage in unauthorized exporting, importing, sale or storage, the board warned.  MNA
